What a cylinder break actually tells you

A 28-day number is a contract milestone. Stripping strength is the one that governs your cycle, and they are not the same question.

Two numbers get confused constantly. The 28-day compressive strength is what the specification names and what the paperwork records. Stripping strength is what decides whether the crew can turn the bed tomorrow morning. Optimising for the first while ignoring the second is how a plant ends up with a compliant product and a broken schedule.

Cure is a production decision

Accelerated curing buys cycle time and costs energy. The trade is real and it is specific to your mix, your ambient conditions and the piece geometry. A schedule copied from another plant is a guess wearing a lab coat.

  • Match-cure cylinders with the piece, not with the ambient air of the lab.
  • Record the actual cure profile, not the intended one.
  • Track stripping breaks separately from acceptance breaks.

The plants that hold the tightest cycles are usually the ones with the longest record of stripping data, because they know precisely how early is safe rather than guessing conservatively and paying for it every single day.
