Ask anyone in precast where the details live and they will point at a folder. Ask them to find the one detail they need and watch how long it takes. The knowledge exists. It simply is not structured, and unstructured knowledge is indistinguishable from missing knowledge at the moment you need it.
Paired formats or it did not happen
A drawing offered only as a PDF is a picture of engineering data. The pattern that works is paired: a PDF to read and a CAD file to use, published together under one record, with the dimensions that matter stored as fields rather than buried in the geometry.
If you cannot filter it, you cannot find it. If you cannot find it, it is not published.
This is the part the industry has consistently promised and consistently not shipped. Open libraries get announced; what arrives is a contact form. The fix is unglamorous — type the attributes, publish both formats, remove the email gate — and it is the whole difference between a library and a filing cabinet.
